T5W Underrated books

So I have been a bit lazy and then overwhelmed with work and thus did not post my T5W thoughts. Also, I felt I couldn’t fill in on the themes this month. Must work on that.

Alright, this T5W topic is Underrated books. Books that we think are being overlooked or not really mentioned in the blogs we follow or BookTube channels we are subscribed to. So here is my list.

  1. Jim Butcher‘s The Dresden files

The Dresden Files is an urban fantasy series spanning 15 books about a Chicago based wizard and private investigator Harry Dresden. He is a consulting wizard who helps Chicago PD deal with supernatural cases. It might be well known in the urban fantasy community but I’ve yet to hear any booktubers talk about it. I love this series! I started reading it in high-school. Actually, listen to it because James Masters is freaking amazing reading these books. The only physical copy of this series I have is book 14 Cold Days because Masters wasn’t available to read it and I couldn’t listen to the other guy.

2. Jim Butcher‘s Codex Alera series

This is another Jim Butcher series. But this one is pure fantasy. This series is about a young boy named Tavi who lives in the realm of Alera. Everybody there has some degree of command over elemental forces or spirits called furies. Everybody except Tavi of course. One day he meets Amara who is running from people trying to bring down the ruling First Lord. It is a very interesting series. Apparently, Butcher wrote it because he was challenged to write a good story based on a lame idea, so he got two lame ideas “Lost Roman Legion” and “Pokemon” and wrote this great series.

3. Ilona AndrewsKate Daniels series

Another urban fantasy series. This one is set in a slightly futuristic Atlanta where magic and tech periods interchange. During tech periods technology, guns and cars work but during the magic periods anything technological fails but magic and spells work. Kate Daniels is a mercenary who fights various types of monsters. She is such a kickass character. If you want to read a book with a kick ass female warrior character who doesn’t take shit from anyone. She is amazing and everyone should read this series.

The covers for this books are so cheesy, and the lion on a bunch of these is Kate’s love interest Curran who is a shapeshifter.

4. Abigail Barnette’s The Boss series

This book is and erotic fiction book and one of my favourites. If you disliked the 50 shades of grey book as much as I did, this book is the good version of the similar themes. There is a young girl who hooks up with this rich guy who is into S&M, but twist, she is also into it and doesn’t feel guilty about it. He treats her with respect and as a fucking adult. And the sex scenes are amazing. Read this.

This is it for this T5W. Have you read any of these books? Do you know any BookTuber or a blogger that have talked about these books? Comment away….  Bye.

  1. I really want to try the Dresden Files this year! I’ve heard great things – and I really like the idea of working through a huge series over the course of a year or two. I will be nice to get to revisit a world over and over. Great list! 🙂
